REVIEW - Sinful Colors Nail Polish

Hello my lovelies! This post has been a little delayed as I had to wait for my package from China to arrive containing my new nail wheels. Nail wheels really help for people like me with the most un-feminine hands ever created on the history of Earth! Anywho, before I go off on a tangent - here is what I've got to say about these polishes.

First of all, you may recognise this photo from my Instagram feed however this is the unedited version to give you an actual insight to the colours in pure daylight. Lets all just agree on how cute the bottles are though! Sinful Colors packaging is so good for the price of each bottle. Each bottle is priced roughly around £1.99 and you get a full 15ml of colour which is usually enough for 10 uses (using 2 coats each time). When you compare this to a brand such as OPI, priced at £7-8 per bottle, you wouldn't know any different if the polishes where exchanged into different bottles.

These polishes are available at various online store but I picked mine up from Boots which you may have seen in my previous Boots haul post. Quite a lot of the time Boots also have a 3 for 2 offer on so you can pick one of these gems up for free - what more could you ask for?

Left: Easy Going & Right: Glass Pink

The colours of these polishes are outstanding and the range they have available is endless. I really don't know what held me back from trying these before? On the left is 'Easy Going', a peachy pink which looks so lovely on (it also makes you look a little tan..) and recieved a few compliments when I wore it. The other is 'Glass Pink' a pearl shade with a tint of pink and lots of speckles of glitter. This shade is so girly and a great alternative to clear nail varnish or you just want a glittery top coat. Each polish lasts a fair time without chipping which is great! Believe it or not I actually hate painting my nails as I find it such a chore, however it looks pretty and more presentable when they are.

Sorry, this was a quick post but it's all I have time for as I am off to my Sixth Form interview soon! Eeeek! Please feel free to leave a comment about anything or any Sinful Colors you own as I would love to hear what your thoughts on them are!

Thank you for reading!

Real Techniques Brush Collection

Hello everyone, it has been a very hectic week so far and I haven't really had time to sit down! I am currently in the middle of hosting my French Exchange student here at my home. I have had to spend a lot of time helping her during her stay here in the UK and adapting her to British ways of living. Since she is currently in London along with her other classmates from France, I have a couple hours of free-time of which I have decided to spend writing a blog post and chillaxing! So, I have decided to write about my Real Techniques brushes as I love them and I have had some interest to show this from my other posts, here goes!

From Left to Right: Powder brush, blush brush, buffing brush,
contour brush, pointed foundation brush and detailer brush.

Real Techniques brushes are designed by a fellow beauty blogger called Samantha Chapman and are available in various beauty stores such as Superdrug and Boots. They vary in price depending on what brush you're buying but they are roughly £10 each.

Powder brush - I use this brush more than all of the other brushes purely because I apply my powder twice a day. From what I can remember it was about £12 and is the biggest brush of them all. I use this brush to apply MAC Skinfinish Natural and it works like a treat!

Blush brush - I have used this brush a couple of times but kind of regret buying it now as I tend to stick with creme blushes as they are so much easier and quicker to apply. However, when I have used this brush it works really well and really does what it says on the tin (except they come in boxes).

Buffing brush - Now I'm really pleased with this brush as I use it to apply my foundation in the morning. I use Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse and have done for the past couple of years. Using the buffing brush has made it so much easier and effective in the mornings. Before, I found it awkward to apply with my fingers but despite this I still used it as I really liked the finish. Now I have my hands on this brush I love it even more!

Contour brush - This brush works really well and I use it to apply my bronzer. I never used to apply bronzer because I never had a brush for it other than the crappy ones you get in bulk makeup sets. This brush really ticks all the boxes for me and is well worth it!

Pointed foundation brush - Since I apply my foundation with my buffing brush I don't really have a use for this brush unless I decide to wear a liquid foundation usually Eau De Tient from L'Oreal. If anyone has another use for this that I just haven't thought of  - please let me know!

Detailer brush - Finally we have the detailer brush. I find this brush very useful for applying concealer on any breakouts or imperfections that I may have. The brush is very soft and therefore doesn't irritate any sensitive under-the-skin spots allowing them to heal quicker and covering them efficiently.

These brushes are well worth the money and I recommend them 100%. To clean them just use Johnson's Baby Shampoo as it has no harsh chemicals in that will damage the brushes. To dry, leave them in a warm place such as near a radiator or in an airing cupboard. I DO NOT recommend using a hair-dryer as it melts the fibres and leaves them stuck together and once it's done, it's done and cannot be reversed (unless you want to buy another one, of course!) If you need to dry them quickly, use a hair-dryer on the coolest setting possible.

Real Techniques Core Collection - available at boots.com

Thank you for reading and thank you so much to the followers I have recently gained - I am so grateful!

The Liebster Award

I recently won the 'Liebster Award' after being nominated by Paige  - thank you very much! I know you are supposed to write facts about yourself and this award, but right now I'd much prefer to just answer the questions (party pooper right here!)

1.If you had to belong to one of the districts in Hunger Games which one would it be and why?

Hmmm...preferably I'd like to avoid The Hunger Games at all costs and be in none of the twelve. But since you asked, the answer would probably be District 12 purely because in the first film it win!

2. Cookies or Brownies?

Is there such thing as a 'Coonie' because I just can't decide!

3. Favourite Harry Potter character?

Definitely Hermione Granger! So many people have said that I look like Emma Watson but I fail to see any resemblance?

4. Favourite bands/singers?

'The Lumineers', 'The XX', 'Adam Barnes', 'Bastille', and 'The Maccabees' are my all time favourites, however, I actually really like French music. My favourite French artists are 'Joyce Jonathan', 'Stromae' and 'Cœur de Pirate'.

5. Team delena or team stelena (Vampire Diaries)?

I can't really answer this because believe it or not, I have never once watched the 'Vampire Diaries'.

6.Gold or Silver?

Definitely gold - I feel it suits my skin tone and hair colour better! Don't ask why - it just does!

7.Winter birthday or Summer birthday?

Now as much as I would kill for a birthday in the summer, my birthday is actually in the winter as I am a December baby.

8.Favourite holiday?

I think it would have to be my visit to Florida in 2012. It was absolutely amazing and I would love to go back soon! However I also love my trips to Paris as I absolutely adore France.

9.Would you rather change genders every time you sneezed or have extreme facial pain every time your coughed?

Errm...firstly what possessed this question? Though I think I'd have to say have extreme facial pain everytime I cough - only because I can't remember the last time I actually ever coughed?

10.Favourite book?

Hands down 'The Great Gatsby' I could  read that book thousands of times and still experience escapism.

11. And finally your signature scent, if you have found it yet?

I love Marc Jacobs Daisy - Eau So Fresh. The floral undertones and fruity accents smell so good and I could stick with it forever!

Once again, thank you Paige for giving me this award - I could only just accept it with nearly 200 followers (which can I say is CRAZY!) Unfortunately, I won't be passing on the award just yet as I haven't really looked at other people's blogs and if I have, they have already been given the award.

Thanks for reading,

Chloe

Boots Haul - Spring 2014

Everyone loves that time of the month when you purposely cannot hold yourself from buying make-up that you don't need - eh? Well, that I have just been through and placed a cheeky order from Boots. I usually buy things in-store but what the heck, I needed to brush the dust off of my debit card (kinda). Anyway, enough with the rambling, here's what I ordered:

1. Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush - Yep, it's another Real Techniques brush. I already have 6 of these but funnily enough - none of them are for my eyes. Since I wear gel eyeliner using a normal brush is an absolute nightmare as I end up washing it everyday. When I found this I went a little crazy; I figured it would be a lifesaver. As the end of it is silicone, my eyeliner won't dry on it and I feel it will give a more precise application as you won't get the stray bristle that wants to make a line of its own.

2. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion -  Now this is a definite need. I've wanted to pick this up and try it out for ages as I've heard really good things about it. I suffer from really dry skin but an oily t-zone (in other words - awkward skin) so I need something that will provide me with both benefits. Since Clinique are skin geniuses I am not going to argue with their amazingly brilliant products and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

3. Sinful Colors in Glass Pink - This is a typical Instagram pick-me-up, every girly feed on Instagram features at least one of these and I've decided to see what all the fuss is about.  Glass Pink is a pearl shade so contains specks of sparkle amongst the most prettiest of pink colours.

4. Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Pink Lemonade - I have to be honest, I am not a 'BabyLips' fan as I feel the colours are toolimited and they don't last very long without constant re-applying. However, I do like the idea of lip butters as they are very moisturising with only a pop of colour unlike lipsticks. Revlon Lip Butters have been about for awhile and the odd one has popped up on Instagram. So, I decided to pick up one and I can't wait to try it out. This one has a natural pinkish tone but not an over the top hot pink.

5. Sinful Colors in Easy-Going - Once again, I picked up another to see what all the havoc was about. This one however is a very pale pink almost white colour. I own about 2,343,569 nail varnishes but another 2 can't hurt - can it?

Here's what I bought:

Hooray! It's a Holiday!

So I recently took a trip to Center Parcs (literally got back roughly an hour ago) at their Elveden forest location. It was so nice to take some time-out with family and friends and have a lovely break at the same time. Being my usual self I did take some snaps whilst I was there as I knew it was about time I posted something new on here!

We stayed in the most common accommodation on the Center Parcs sites which is the 'New Style Executive'. If you're like me and have stayed at Center Parcs before, you'll know that a majority of the time the rooms are immaculately clean and the beds are soooooo comfy! However, during our stay we managed to rip a North Face coat on the door and accumulate an infestation of ants after my brother decided he'd leave his sweets on the floor. Oops!

The photo of this room was taken after the beds had been slept in for one night - so keep that thought in mind! Let's just hope that Blogging and Journalism works out for me as I'll never make it as a cleaner...

Food at Center Parcs is absolutely amazing; they have so many restaurants of so many cultures far and wide. Whilst we were there our family ate out at a restaurant called 'Huck's'. I'm pretty sure you have heard of it before if you have visited before, but if you haven't, they serve American food and it tastes divine! Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera on me at this point so you'll have to stick with iPhone pictures! Sorry!

I ordered a portion of BBQ Ribs with chips as a main and for dessert Key Lime Pie and it was so good and so yummy! What I like about it is that you can order 'half-portions' on literally anything. So, if you struggle to eat an American sized portion like moi, you can settle for a smaller, more English sized meal at half of the cost - perfect!

There was also numerous trips to Starbucks whilst I was there. I just couldn't bare the temptation of craving a 'Raspberry Blackcurrant Juice Blend' and 'Chocolate Chip Shortbread' every so often! Sometimes you just cannot hold yourself back - eh?

During our stay, I also set myself a goal of capturing some sort of wildlife. Since we were staying in a forest I was hoping some creatures to approach our villa. However, after several pigeons and an infestation of ants later, I finally shot a squirrel! (Not literally) Cue the squirrel photos!..

Using the rule of thirds there (like a pro...not!)

Pretty good hey? Anyway, that concludes this post and my little getaway! I will be posting a lot more over the next couple of weeks as it's half-term yay! Have a lovely, luxurious holidays and stay safe!

What I Hope to Achieve in 2014

So, this is a bit of a belated blog-post but I wanted to share the things I hope to achieve this year.

1. Get good GCSE grades - I am currently in my final year of school and taking all of my exams in May/June this year. To be honest I've turned into quite a "nerd" this year and have put my schoolwork before anything I do, so to get some As in my GCSEs would be amazing!

2. Travel more - I have been extremely lucky to travel to several different countries at such a young age: Dominican Republic, United States of America, France and Finland. Though there are so many other places I want to go including places all over England.

3. Become fluent in French - I really love learning new languages and I think French is a beautiful language. I've been learning it for over 5 years now and I'm still not fluent. However, I have started building friendships with 2 filles en France and we write letters and emails to each other in French (with a little help from Google Translate!). I really recommend this if you're trying to learn a new language! Bonne chance!

4. Conquer the art of Teeline Shorthand - I am really interested in English and journalism and want to pursue it as a career. To learn Teeline shorthand at the age of sixteen would be an amazing achievement (though it is quite hard and I tend to start doodling instead). I want to learn shorthand now as it would take so much pressure off of myself at university.

5. Publish more blogposts on my Guardian page - Blogging for The Guardian is an amazing achievement in itself and I'm so chuffed I was able too. My first post got over 6,000 views in the first few hours and started a huge debate over social networking sites (oops!). However, I feel like I don't post enough on there. To think of more articles would be fab and it will really kick off my journalism career.

6. Interview an important/valued person - Now, this one is on the verge of becoming within my grasp. The principal at my school is a superb man; he had a meeting with our local MP and told him all about me. He told him all about me  blogging for The Guardian and carrying out interviews with teachers and pupils at our school. Our MP informed my principal that there was a very high chance that he could arrange an interview with a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons! So exciting!

7. Reach 200 followers on this blog - This is a bit aspirational, but with a lot of hard work I think it would be possible! I hope to post a lot more frequently especially when my exams are out of the way! I'm currently at 19 followers so, only 181 to go!

8. Stop worrying so much - I really dislike going places on my own and taking public transport on my own as I panic myself so much. Suffering from anxiety isn't the nicest thing in the world so I'd love to overcome some of it. It's horrible feeling so nervous all the time when nothing is even happening.

I really wanted to get this post out of the way as I don't think it could have been any later and I hope you achieve what you want in 2014!

Topshop Haul - Winter 2014

I recently had un peu splurge in Topshop as I was in desperate need of some new additions to the wardrobe (according to mum, I wasn't - but hey-ho!).

Recently, I've really been into wearing skirts so picked up this check/gingham patterned one. I love to wear monochrome clothing as I feel it suits me better than bright, vibrant colours so I played it safe. The skirt feels like it is made with wool in it and is a bit itchy on bare legs, but with tights hey presto, problem solved! It falls to about mid thigh length and sits on your hips so it's a very flattering skirt. I also picked up the yellow crepe top to wear with the skirt after I was inspired by Olivia Harker's Christmas outfit as she also owns the gingham skirt. This top is honestly so comfortable and it's baggy but really feminine at the same time - what more could you want? Finally, clothing-wise I picked up this black cropped cami to wear with the skirt when it gets a bit warmer. I also think cami tops are a very versatile piece of clothing to have as they go with anything and can be both dressed-up and dressed-down.

While I was there, I also picked up my first make-up items from Topshop's make-up collection. I had always doubted the quality of Topshop's make-up but I thought I'd give it ago and boy was I proved wrong! Topshop's lipsticks have such great quality and are really opaque when on. I also think they're very moisturising and last for ages! The colour I bought was Beguiled it is a dark purple and looks very vampy against my pale skin! I also couldn't resist picking up a brow pencil as I was in desperate need of a new one - the colour I bought was Blonde since I have blonde hair I thought that was a wise choice to make! I really like the quality of this too and especially the fact that it comes with the brush (what are they actually called?) on the end of it. In my Topshop binge I also picked up a creme blush in Head Over Heels. I had never used a creme blush before but I was impressed by the colour of it as it blends into your skin to give you faint rosy cheeks rather than looking like an elf with massive pick blotches on your face!
